David Merriman
David Merriman is a filmmaker and artist from Dublin, Ireland. His
notable works include Re-Creation (2024), co-directed with Jim
Sheridan, the award-winning documentary The State of Being
Human (2014), and the concert documentary Rock Against
Homelessness, which aired on Virgin Media in 2020.
Music Business
David Merriman began his career in Dublin’s music scene, following in the footsteps of his uncle, the renowned singing teacher Frank Merriman. During his teenage years, he honed his vocal skills alongside
celebrated artists such as Sinéad O’Connor, Christy Dignam, Danny O’Donoghue, Don Baker, and Leslie Dowdall. In 1997, Merriman relocated to Los Angeles and signed with Sony Records, marking a
significant milestone in his music career.

Film
As David Merriman’s music career came to a close, he transitioned into creating music videos for local bands in Los Angeles. This opened the door to a role directing live events for the World Wrestling Alliance.
Eventually, Merriman relocated to Alabama, where he began working on low-budget films, further developing his craft as a filmmaker.
In 2024, Merriman and Sheridan co-wrote and co-directed the filmRe-Creation. Their collaboration continues with Kerry Babies, set to begin production in 2026, where Sheridan will direct and Merriman will
serve as producer.
In November 2025 Merriman directed the horror film 7sins which is slated for release in October 2026
